The Enlargement Process

Original Sculpture - Reduction/Enlargement

 

 

The first step begins with the artist creating an original sculpture. This is most often made from wax or clay, although other materials can be used. Sometimes we will be asked to make a reduction or enlargement from the original. This is done with an armature, foam and clay. The enlargement or reduction is done with a traditional point up or down method or with the newer technology of 3-D scanning and CNC milling called digital enlargement/reduction. Once the digital enlargement is milled we apply a thin layer of clay that can be detailed to the artists exacting requirements.
